Last day in Catalunya

Good walk today but nothing beautiful. Great off-road walking through ag fields, mostly wheat but some olives and almonds thrown in for good measure. We left our "basic" albergue early and there was a beautiful sunrise.

We had a coffee in Balaguer, a town on the line between Republican (to the south) and Fascist (to the north).

We walked 32 km and most of it was fairly monotonous. But all of it was good for our feet.

We arrived in our town, Algerri, by 1 pm. It is small, unexciting, and fairly ugly. But it has a pretty Barroque facade on the church.

The albergue is very nice, 5 €, with a kitchen, a bathroom, and a place to hang out clothes to dry. Heaven!  We had a menu del dia with wonderful gazpacho in a restaurant connected to the local gas station. Not exactly charming, but very nice people.

Tomorrow we leave Catalunya and enter Aragon. Up to this point from Montserrat,  I have to say that there is nothing really spectacular. The eight days before Montserrat are lovely.  And the four days since  Montserrat have been great, but only because I've been sharing the walk with a wonderful person!
